Rita Ora announced as new X Factor judge

It was announced today by Syco, ITV and Thames that Rita Ora has been signed as a judge for the new series of ‘The X Factor’.

The Columbia/ Roc Nation signed singer will take the coveted spot alongside fellow new judge and Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw. They will both complete the judging panel line-up joining show creator Simon Cowell and returning judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini in the new series of ‘The X Factor’ which will air this autumn on ITV.

Rita is no stranger to ‘The X Factor’ having first appeared on the show in 2012 as a guest judge.

Speaking about joining the show, Rita said, “I am excited to be coming back to ‘The X Factor’ – I had a ball here in 2012. This is a journey I can’t wait to embark on to find some talented singers. It’s the new generation taking over. Booooom”

Simon Cowell said, “it’s taken a while! But I am very happy to be able to confirm our line-up of judges for ‘The X Factor’ this year. The combination of Nick, Cheryl and Rita is going to be a lot of fun! They all bring a lot of enthusiasm and passion for music to the show. I have a feeling I am in for a bit of a rough time but sometimes you have to embrace the craziness and now, with luck, we hope to find a star.”

The new panel is part of a number of changes to this year’s series of ‘The X Factor’, which also include the brand new hosts RCA-signed Olly Murs and Caroline Flack.

Applications for the new series of ‘The X Factor’ are open now. Anyone can still apply by submitting a video audition. Video auditions can be sent in via https://application.xfactor.tv/ and more information can be found at www.itv.com/xfactor
