Sony artists nominated for MTV VMAs 2017

Last night the nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards were announced, with a host of Sony artists shortlisted across the 14 categories.   

DJ Khaled leads with four nominations, including the prestigious VMA Video of the Year award, plus Best Collaboration, Best Hip Hop and Best Art Direction.   

Calvin Harris has also been shortlisted for Best Collaboration, with ‘Feels’ ft. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry and Big Sean. He received a second nomination in the Best Dance category for ‘My Way’.
 

‘Sign of the Times’ by Harry Styles received two nominations, in the Best Pop and Best Visual Effects categories.  

The Chainsmokers’ No.1 hit ‘Closer’ ft. Halsey has been shortlisted for Best Collaboration and Best Editing. Double nominations also went to Fifth Harmony, with ‘Down’ ft. Gucci Mane up for Best Pop and Best Choreography.  

Khalid, Sza and Noah Cyrus all received recognition in the Best New Artist category.  

Miley Cyrus’ ‘Malibu’ received a nomination for Best Pop, while Kygo is up for Best Dance with his Selena Gomez collaboration ‘It Ain’t Me’. Foo Fighters have been shortlisted for Best Rock with ‘Run’, John Legend is up for Best Fight Against the System with ‘Surefire’, Future is up for Best Editing with ‘Mask Off’ and A Tribe Called Quest are up for Best Visual Effects with ‘Dis Generation’.  

The winners will be announced at the MTV VMAs on Sunday 27th August in Los Angeles.
