Manchester-based DJ and producer, Alex Hobson, is rising through the ranks with his sunny and optimistic house music.

Alex started making dance tracks when he was 15, teaching himself the tricks of the trade via YouTube tutorials. After posting several of his bootlegs on the same platform, his tunes got picked up by promotional channels Thrills, Futurism and The Latest Sounds.

When he makes music now, Hobson draws influences from established house producers, as well as some of the biggest current names in the scene, especially artists who he says manage to combine credible beats with hooky melodies: “My biggest inspirations are the people I grew up listening to, such as Curtis Gabriel, S.K.T, and even the more recent artists, like Joel Corry,” Alex says. “He has a perfect balance of commercial house and tech-house on his radio shows, which is kind of the route I’d like to go down.

One of Alex’s biggest tracks, ‘Good On You’, mixes classic piano riffs and a bubbling synth bassline with the soaring vocals of Talia Mar. Featuring additional production by studio wiz Mark Ralph (Jax Jones, Rudimental and Kygo), it’s a record that will be equally at home on the radio and sound-tracking clubs and outdoor festivals now and in the future.

Alex has plenty more tracks in the pipeline.
