Manic Street Preachers release new album ‘Resistance is Futile’

Manic Street Preachers today release their brand new album Resistance is Futile on Columbia Records. The album is the band’s thirteenth studio album (and their thirteenth consecutive release for the label) and follows 2014’s Futurology. The songs on the album are the first recorded in the band’s new Door to the River studio (near Newport).

The band said of the album, “the main themes of Resistance is Futile are memory and loss; forgotten history; confused reality and art as a hiding place and inspiration. It’s obsessively melodic – in many ways referencing both the naïve energy of Generation Terrorists and the orchestral sweep of Everything Must Go. After delay and difficulties getting started, the record has come together really quickly over the last few months through a surge of creativity and some old school hard work.”

The band head out for an arena tour in April and May and play several festivals including Robert Smith’s Meltdown.

April 23rd – Metro Arena, Newcastle
April 25th – The SSE Hydro Arena, Glasgow
April 27th – Birmingham Arena
April 28th – Manchester Arena
May 1st – Venue Cymru Arena, Llandudno
May 2nd – First Direct Arena, Leeds
May 4th – The SSE Arena Wembley
May 5th – Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff
June 19th – Meltdown, Royal Festival Hall, London
