Sony Music Syncs Shine at Christmas

Sony Music artists are taking over television screens this festive season – with six major campaigns.

Syco’s Fleur East has been teamed with one of Britain’s best-known retailers, Asda. The ad broke Fleur’s debut single ‘Sax’ ahead of release – and helped send it straight to No. 3 in the charts.

Two additional Asda campaigns have since chosen ‘Power of Love’ by Jennifer Rush and ‘Final Countdown’ by Europe as soundtracks, making it a trifecta for Sony.

Columbia Records’ phenomenon Mark Ronson and his global smash ‘Uptown Funk’ feat Bruno Mars, continue the partnership with high-street giant Marks and Spencer. ‘Uptown Funk’, now the fifth biggest-selling single in UK history, was used for their autumn campaign – and has remained the anthem for their seasonal commercial dubbed #TheArtOfChristmas. 

Waitrose has allied themselves with 1930s US jazz singer Cab Calloway, and the timeless track ‘Everybody Eats When they Come to My House’. Aptly, Calloway was born on Christmas day.  

‘Last Christmas,’ the legendary 1984 festive hit by Wham!, is the music behind this year’s Carphone Warehouse advert. While Vodafone are partnering with Irish boy band Westlife, using their number 1 hit ‘Flying Without Wings’.

House of Fraser has joined forces with Columbia’s new vocal powerhouse, 18-year-old Grace featuring G-Eazy, to recreate the 1963 hit ‘You Don’t Own Me’ originally recorded by Lesley Gore. ‘You Don’t Own Me’ has shot to Number 5 in this week’s Official Chart.
