Reuben Aziz started performing as a teenage singer, songwriter and musician who went viral for rapping. The now 20-year-old vocalist from Southampton credits restless energy during the pandemic for a creative pivot that saw him start posting freestyles to social media. Raised on his father’s favourite MCs – Tupac to The Fugees to DMX, Reuben found further inspiration in his generation’s finest double threats such as Frank Ocean and Daniel Cesar. The result was Reuben conceiving his own brew of modern soul: intoxicating lyricism poured with a saccharine falsetto. After connecting with renowned production team Da Beatfreakz, he signed a production deal with their DBF production imprint and Reuben found his first hit with “Find U.” The release of its infectious sped-up version not only increased the singer’s virality but established him as an artist on the immediate horizon. His following single “RUNNING” strummed hearts with all the confused feels expected within young yet complex relationships. The 6’2 former point guard used to have hoop dreams, but today, longevity as a music artist is the dream for Reuben Aziz.
