WHAM! resume festive dominance with ‘Last Christmas’
As the race for 2025’s Official Christmas Number 1 heats up, WHAM! have reclaimed the top spot on the Official Singles Chart with their timeless classic ‘Last Christmas’.
The 41-year-old single was streamed around 12 million times in the UK alone over the past week and has now passed five million units for the post-1994 period. ‘Last Christmas’ has now racked up 11 non-consecutive weeks at the top.
Andrew Ridgeley said: “I am delighted that Wham!’s perennial Christmas classic continues to occupy a special place in people’s hearts. Thank you all for your enduring support. Wishing you a very merry Christmas.”
To celebrate, Andrew appeared at an exclusive signing at RCA’s pop-up shop at Mare Street Market, King’s Cross, which for one day only was transformed into a festive chalet inspired by the iconic ‘Last Christmas’ music video. Fans queued to meet Ridgeley and pick up limited-edition vinyl and merchandise, making the activation a highlight of the season for WHAM! devotees.
Originally peaking at No.1 in 16 countries upon release, ‘Last Christmas’ is now officially the fourth highest-selling single of all time in the UK.
