1D and Calvin Harris nominated for BRIT Awards

The videos for ‘Best Song Ever’ by One Direction and the Calvin Harris hit ‘I Need Your Love’ have been nominated for the Social Vote Award at this year’s BRITs.

The final vote itself will be live during the show next week and will be open to audiences around the world.

Sony Music has a total of 17 nominations at this year’s BRITs.

Nominations for the Social Vote Award were revealed on the BRITs YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/BRITs

The shortlist of 5 nominations is based on official YouTube views. The other nominees are Ellie Goulding, John Newman and Naughty Boy.

This is the first time ever an Award show of this scale has been globally broadcast by YouTube. It will also enable and encourage a global audience to get involved with the Social Vote Award for British Video, meaning the achievements and successes in British music over the last year can be celebrated around the world.

The vote itself will open when The BRIT Awards show goes live at 8pm on February 19th. It is a live vote exclusively on Twitter and unique hashtags for each video will be announced. Only one vote per account will be counted.
