Sony Music UK & Cooking Vinyl Group Agree Unique Strategic Alliance
RED have announced today (3rd March), the acquisition of independent sales and distribution company Essential Music and Marketing, a member of The Cooking Vinyl Group of companies.
As part of this ground breaking new deal – which sees a UK major label buy into independent sales & distribution for the first time – a new company will be launched, Red Essential.
Red Essential will see the two companies combine their staff, expertise, resources and back office functions to build a “future-facing” global sales and distribution company in the UK market, which will offer labels and artists a global platform alongside music expertise, a strong heritage in distribution and a ground-breaking record of tech innovations.
RED’s Ian Dutt and Essential founder Mike Chadwick will assume the roles of co-Managing Director at Red Essential.
