Mark Ronson reveals new video for ‘I Can’t Lose’
Ahead of its release on July 5th, Mark Ronson premieres the video for his new single, ‘I Can’t Lose’, today on Vevo.
‘I Can’t Lose’ is a synth-heavy club jam with an 80’s feel, sung by debut vocalist, Keyone Starr. Several ideas for the new album ‘Uptown Special’ were realised on a road trip Jeff Bhasker suggested he and Mark take South to the country’s heartland, including the discovery of Keyone’s exquisite vocal talents.
Starting out in New Orleans, they drove up to Mississippi and visited churches throughout the region before landing in Jackson. In walked Keyone Starr, “a cool looking girl with an amazing rasp in her voice,” Ronson recalls. She agreed to come to Memphis to take a stab at recording and ended up adding her powerful soulful vocals on the single ‘Silver Dagger’ and background vocals to ‘Crack In the Pearl’.
‘I Can’t Lose’ is taken from Ronson’s critically acclaimed new album ‘Uptown Special’, and follows the worldwide sensation ‘Uptown Funk’. With over 1.7 million downloads in the UK alone, ‘Uptown Funk’ spent 7 weeks at the top of the charts; the first time that has happened in 8 years. The track has also been downloaded over 6.8 million times worldwide, had 168 million audio streams and 356 million video streams.
This Friday night at Glastonbury, Mark and his stellar band, featuring Keyone Starr and a host of other special guest vocalists including Daniel Merriweather, Kyle Falconer, MNDR, Theophilus London, Kevin Parker, Andrew Wyatt, Boy George and more will electrify Glastonbury’s Other Stage.
