First Aid Kit return with new single ‘It’s a Shame’

First Aid Kit – sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg – have returned with their new single ‘It’s a Shame’, which premiered today on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show.

Recorded earlier this year in Portland, Oregon, ‘It’s a Shame’ was produced by Tucker Martine (My Morning Jacket, Laura Veirs).

Speaking about the record, Klara and Johanna said, “we went to Los Angeles last spring and spent five weeks there writing. It was a tough time for the both of us. We were in this beautiful sunny place, but mostly felt sad and lonely. ‘It’s a Shame’ is a song about the emptiness and desperation you feel after a relationship has come to an end – how you will go to great lengths just to numb the pain and feel less lonely.”

First Aid Kit have also announced an intimate London show at Shoreditch Town Hall to celebrate the new single, taking place on November 1st.

‘It’s a Shame’ follows the band’s debut album with Columbia Records, Stay Gold. In March this year, they released a stand-alone single on International Women’s Day entitled ‘You are the Problem Here’.
