The Prison Radio Association (PRA) is an award-winning charity that runs National Prison Radio (NPR). The world’s first and only national radio station for prisoners, NPR supports prisoners through their sentences and aims to reduce re-offending. It also highlights the effects of crime and imprisonment on prisoners, families, victims and societies as a whole.
The Social Justice Fund will support the development of a post-release offer for women leaving HMP Styal. This will build onto the one-to-one training and mentoring in radio production and presenting to women housed there that is currently offered by PRA. This is the first time a distinct pathway has been offered, including paid opportunities, for women leaving prison to continue their radio production skills development.
