Spark Inside uses coaching in prisons to unlock the potential of individuals and drive culture change in the criminal justice system so that rehabilitation is possible. Their vision is that the futures of people in contact with the criminal justice system are determined by their potential, not their past.
The Social Justice Fund is supporting two years of Spark Inside’s ‘Black Hero’s Journey’ (BHJ) programme. BHJ is an innovative programme, co-designed with and for young Black and Mixed Heritage men with lived experience, that addresses a clear/significant gap in the support available for young Black and Mixed Heritage prisoners. Each BHJ consists of in-prison workshops followed by one-to-one life coaching, which takes place both in custody and through the gate into the community post-release.
